The Douglas County School System Technology Department's mission is to enhance the learning environment through the infusion of technology into the instructional process. We want to provide access to technology tools that will impact learning for all students and assist teachers in providing instruction.
The Douglas County School System believes that the use of technology assists students in realizing their learning potential. For the student, technology is a tool that can positively impact their learning. In an effort to provide the best support possible, the school system has adopted standards on the hardware used by teachers, students and staff. We provide training to the teachers, administration, and support staff on how to utilize the technology that is provided. The school system has built its own fiber optic network to provide high speed Internet to all facilities, provide the backbone for the system's telephone system and provide access to centralized applications.
The department currently supports 27,000+ users including students, teachers, administration and support staff; approximately 10,000 desktop, laptop and netbook computers; 2,700+ email accounts; 1,950+ printers; 2,200 voicemail accounts; 1,200 phones; 225 network switches; 45+ servers; a system owned fiber network to connect all sites to the Central Office; hundreds of software applications and 35 sites (and growing).
